About this deal

Indie-Bücher mögen vielleicht ein wenig teurer sein durchs Selfpublishing und die kleineren Auflagen, aber dass die Autoren so das gesamte Buch selbstständig gestalten können ist ein riesiger Gewinn. And then later in the book, when she tried developing a backbone, she bothered me because she felt like a moody and insolent teenager with the way she kept talking back and having sass while still being a big ditz. I really liked it, but it felt a little less maybe it's with the fact that this was the first book in the series. We have politics, a war, magic, multiple supernatural creatures and more… (and all of them were well done).

I imagined it was set somewhere in Italy, ugh just the words the author uses for description were amazing! Thankfully the second book comes out I believe next January or February so not too long of a wait yay! I think the world is so incredibly fascinating and well described, and the plot is intricate and thought through. I mean when he got her a coconut to eat she couldn’t break it herself so he started tearing off pieces and giving it to her so she wouldn’t starve. If gathering a slew of iron relics could help me overthrow the current monarch and crown his brother to rule at my side, then treasure hunting I'd go. Overall, the interesting world and fast-paced plot definitely carried this book considering the main character was bleghhh and the romance isn’t doing anything for me right now.

I won't delve to much on the plot as to not ruin it for others but I will say that this was a book that was a great page turner and every character held my interest to know more about them, it was great to read a story that showed the life of a girl that had a much loved but hard life in poverty and the struggles that she had to go through. Hands down one of my fav books of the year, I don’t know why I’m surprised when I fell in love with her Angels of Elysium series(Feather has my heart). It’s hinted throughout that her heritage isn’t what it seems and when it seemed to have become clear we then get another arc thrown into the mix which just took my head a little getting around. Due to being born without pointed ears, and therefore not full fae, she and her Mum are cast out of high fae society.

After all, I was the magicless halfling loved by beasts but loathed by every pure-blooded faerie at court. I stumbled upon this book and Olivia as an author and I am so glad I did, a book hasn't captured my attention in a while until I read this. The characters are unlikable, and there are so many of them added in with no purpose it leaves for a mind boggling game of memory to remember who is who. I thought we’d arrived at an understanding, he and I, but the only place we’ve reached is another impasse. I think he swears, but unlike Lucin, which sounds melodious even shrieked, every word in Crow sounds guttural and angry.

What then transpires is a magical adventure where Fallon begins to learn more about herself and her capabilities ( I don't want to give too much away please just read it). He's mysterious, strong, caring and protective but with a darker side that will do what it takes to protect his people. Fallon is the type of girl you can't help but love and her loyalty and care towards animals was beautiful to read I loved her friendship with minimus. I felt the balance was fair across the board, the world building, the character development, the relationships, the plot.
