About this deal

As above having issues with an Oxford charger. The battery in the zx10r hasn't been used in maybe 6 weeks, so it was too low to start the bike. Multimeter still said 11v left in it. The other important point to consider is, depending on the brand, age, condition, and number of 'life cycles' for the offending battery it may be BER (Beyond Economical Repair). A professional switch mode charger designed to automatically maintain, optimise and prolong the life of a 12-volt battery. It can be left permanently connected to provide guaranteed long-term battery care. Heavily discharged batteries as low as 4.1V can be charged if the battery is not damaged.

So far, it’s charged every single one, without fuss and in less than a day. The car battery (whose inactivity was one of the reasons I chose the Oximiser 3X) hasn’t needed charging yet – I’ll let you know. The solution, of course, is to leave your bike with its battery on charge when it’s not being used. This is particularly true for bikes that are laid up for winter, and in this case, a battery optimiser/maintainer can be useful, as it not only charges the battery but it carries out a series of conditioning cycles. The last post was made 8 years, 19 days ago. Instead of replying here, would creating a new thread be more useful? If the battery is deeply discharged to approximately 4.1 Volts, the Oximiser 900 will charge at up to 900mA/hr until it reaches 11.8 Volts and the bulk charge mode (The Oximiser 900 will otherwise apply a gentle charge up-to 200mA/h to ensure the battery is brought up to a fullcharge). Is this charge suitable for Lithium Batteries. I have read some manufacturer statements saying as long as they are not left on for long periods and the chargers don't charge at 15+ volts they should befine? January 29, 2018 Why even consider using an oxford charger if you have a good LiPo charger? most will do Pb, and do it far better than even the top end automotive poo.

Fast and efficient charging in all modes keeps charge times short and reduces main power consumption The Oximiser 3X is Oxford's most versatile, most powerful, multi-purpose maintenance product. It offers not one, but THREE automated charging programs for differing battery sizes - perfect for bikes, cars and even leisure batteries! So, if you have multiple toys in your garage, it's the only battery optimiser you are ever likely to need. These put some load on the battery so that it isn’t simply under constant charge, as this can also, paradoxically, damage the battery and reduce its capacity as well. What length are cables that come with this, ie mains plug to charger and charger to bike. Also what difference between this and aniversary edition, same price except for a few coloured buttons on front? September 20, 2018 If the battery is damaged, the Oximiser won’t attempt to recover it. If the battery is below 8V it will display as ‘weak’ and won’t attempt to recover it. If the battery is holding more than 8V the Oximiser will go into ‘recover’ mode, giving the battery a soft start charge at very low current. If the initial voltage is 12.5V or more, it goes straight into ‘charge’ mode.Tested by Richard Newland for five months across six vehicles. Quality 5/5, Value 3/5. Dead batteries are like flat tyres – utterly infuriating and one of the least glamourous replacement parts in biking. But critical to your riding pleasure. While you can't prevent punctures, you can prevent dead cells with a motorcycle battery charger and conditioner. It has a 6a output, which gives it a decent amount of punch when it comes to topping up low batteries in a pinch. My bike wouldn't start after a month of autumn inactivity, but a 30-minute top-up from the Ring charger had it firing on the button again. Lesson learned - just leave it plugged in. Knowing what the Oximiser 3X is doing in each cycle allows me to now use it properly and leave it connected for long enough to go through the full cycles; I find it simple to understand what’s going on and what state my batteries are in. It’s much easier to understand than my old Optimate III because the display tells you the voltage, charge rate and whether the battery is strong or weak. Does it mean you can connect it to your bike whilst you are riding it, or just when it is instorage? November 30, 2011

Maintain Mode - Automatically applies an appropriate charge if voltage drops outside acceptable limits to ensure the battery voltage and condition remains perfect The suggestion was to deep discharge the fooked unit by attaching a car headlamp to it and let it run down. This will be fine - let the battery stand for an hour before charging, and leave the cap off while charging for the firsttime. Simple To Connect – Even as a newbie, I was able to connect the product without any difficulty. Once I had accessed the battery in my motorcycle, I clipped on the crocodile clips (positive first!), then attached them to the Oximiser device using the white connector. I then plugged the device into the mains, and it began working instantaneously. If you intend to keep the charger connected long term, the permanent fixture can be attached simply by securely screwing it to the battery. The whole process can be done in under 15 minutes: it couldn’t be easier! The unit fits to the bikes battery via terminal leads which can be stored under the seat or fed through part of the bikes frame for easy access to the mains lead. The only Oximiser that Oxford list that is suitable for lithium LifePO4 batteries is the 3X, and so we would not recommend using the Oximiser900. A professional switch mode charger designed to automatically maintain, optimise and prolong the life of a 12volt battery. It can be left permanently connected to provide guaranteed long-term battery care. Heavily discharged batteries as low as 4.1V can be charged if the battery is not damaged. The Oximiser 3X has three charging modes. One is for smaller batteries under 36Ah that charges at 14.4v and 0.8A. The next mode is for bigger batteries, MF and Gel and charges at 14.4v at up to 3.6Amps. The third mode is for AGM batteries as used in the stop-start systems on many modern cars. These require a slightly higher charge voltage of 14.7v at the same 3.6 Amps. In comparison my old Optimate III is a motorcycle-only charger with a maximum charge rate of 0.8A.

Bin the Oximiser and buy a Ctek. Then you know you have definitely eliminated a potential problem. Cheap battery conditioners are a false economy. Oxford products are built down to a price and only exist to provide dealers with a profit margin. There are several chargers from CTEK in this list, and this CS ONE option is the top dog of the range. It's a smart charger that can repair, maintain, charge and detect bad cells, as well as a host of other features.Absorption Charge - Lowers the charge rate & gives a topping charge to ensure the battery is charged to 100% Is this suitable for a Harley Davidson Sportster 48 with an absorbed glass matt (AGM)battery? October 15, 2019 One point you should consider is what kind of battery your motorcycle uses. Lithium batteries are becoming more popular as they can offer better performance than traditional lead-acid ones. Once full, the charger adjusts automatically to 'long-term maintenance mode' and keeps the battery conditioned and topped up, ready to go next time the sun's out. It has reverse polarity and short-circuit protection to assist non-experts like me, and is even IP65 rated for all-weather use, which is reassuring if your garage or shed gets damp.
