About this deal

This sole I found to have a nice density to it, and by that I mean it’s not Mushy. It is definitely not by any definition the softest midsole available but fits comfortably between firm responsiveness and a soft pillow feel. They are very comfortable with just the right amount of cushioning for any distance and terrain.

KYLE: As I alluded to earlier, the cushioning on this model is a double-edge sword. I felt a lot of give in the midsole, which was great for mitigating that initial impact. However, I really missed that pop in the toe-off phase. I can’t describe it any better than that. I felt like my foot was having to work harder to actually push off through all the softness. I feel like there’s a happy medium of cush and responsiveness that the Triumph 19 just doesn’t find. ROBBE: Like I said above, this shoe isn’t going to wow you. Which is fine, but if you’ve been tantalized by some of the Endorphin line, just don’t think you’re getting that same feeling from this PWRRUN+ midsole. It’s a bit soft, which provides that cushion and comfort, but you’re sacrificing pop and performance. At the rear, the heel counter is rigid and padded, while the heel collar provides a snug fit for a soft foothold. The gusseted tongue is less padded than on the previous version (presumably to shave some more weight), but it doesn’t impact the comfort. I think this is a great shoe. It’s not WOW!!! But it’s comfortable, stable, consistent, and feels great on your feet. Jeff: Another brand’s long running big cushion daily trainer, the Nimbus has a firmer ride, more narrow toebox, is an ounce heavier, and doesn’t have the same confidence in cushioning as the Triumph. On its own, the Nimbus is a very solid daily trainer, but in an A/B comparison to the Triumph, it’s hard not to see the value the Saucony gives you for the same cost. The Saucony Triumph 19 is a comfortable daily trainer for comfortable longer runs at easy to moderate paces. The midsole cushioning delivers a moderately soft ride, while the new upper is a game-changer by significantly reducing the shoe’s weight.

The Triumph 19 fits true to size and accommodates slightly wider feet like mine nicely. The toe box has plenty of room for my toes to run happily. Hi RTR, I think you've made a mistake when comparing Triumph vs Velocity Nitro. Velocity is lighter. The fit is unchanged from last year, the toe box is still really good for a standard shaped shoe (as in, not Altra or Topo), and the tongue is still really plush.

Although it’s technically a heavy shoe, on par with other luxe trainers like the Brooks Glycerin 19 and Altra Paradigm 6, the Triumph rides light and bouncy. Giving it that energetic sensation is a Pwrrun+ midsole and top sole, introduced in the shoe’s 17th version. Pwrrun+ foam is 28 percent lighter than the Saucony’s original Pwrrun; it’s supportive for easy long runs, and responsive during tempo runs and workouts. “The Triumph 19 feels like running on big, spongy paws,” raved one tester who typically runs in Asics Gel-Kayanos. “Like a Kayano, they’re somewhat stiff and solid, but also nicely soft.” A suede insert along the eyelets adds a bit of structure here and I think it plays a big role in the efficiency of this upper construction. As a consequence, I must admit that I enjoyed the T19 far more than expected, and it has easily found a place in my shoe rotation. Those long asphalt runs, easy or with some tempo chunks thrown in are a real delight to be run with the T19. I even performed a hill workout, 2’ all out uphill and a “fast return” downhill, where the amount of heel cushioning was a real relief during the downhills on a hard surface and considering I had heavy legs as the workout came just after a 4 hour bike ride…
